REP Registration 2011

Planning is well underway for the 2011-2012 Religious Education Program (R.E.P.). Rita is working hard planning numerous family activities, special events and fun nights for youth of all ages, because building a strong faith community is an important part of our program.

“Kick Off” for REP will be on Wednesday, September 14th from 6:45pm – 8:00pm in the Parish Center

The cost of Religious Education will remain the same as in the years past.

$30.00 for first child, $25—second child, $20 third, fourth child and up are free. There is a family maximum of $75.00.  Please do not let the cost of Religious Ed keep your from joining our program.  See Rita for confidential help.

Vacation Bible Camp – 2011

This year during Vacation Bible Camp children from Pre K – 6th grade will be turning St. Joseph’s “Inside-out & Upside Down!”  Join us Monday-Friday, August 1-5 from 8:30am-Noon on Main Street.

Each day on Main Street, children will participate in the excitement of Sidewalk Celebration, experience Jesus’ parables at Parable Productions, create service or craft project at the Fun Factory, enjoy snacks at the Brown Bag Bistro and play lots of fun games at Firehouse Fitness!  Through it all, they’ll learn that Jesus’ life and love makes a difference every day!

Their new friends at Main Street—Heidi Claire, Chef Pierre and Justin Time—will help children learn why Main Street has been turned inside out and upside down.  Children will explore and experience stories Jesus told about everyday people in everyday situations.  But His stories were anything but ordinary!  Children will be challenged by the “Word on the Street” to learn more about gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, grace and faithfulness and see how Jesus makes an amazing difference in their lives every day!

To register print out and complete the Inside Out 2011 Registration Form.  Once you have completed the  form mail it back with your check to:  St. Joseph’s Church, Attention RITA, PO Box 60, Lyons, WI  53148 by July 18.  The cost for the week is only $20 per child.  Please do not let the cost stop you from sending your child/children to camp.  Call Rita to make arrangements.

Fill the Ark- Lenten Alms Giving Project

As a Lenten Alms giving project St. Joseph’s Religious Education Program has challenged the entire community to participate in filling Noah’s ark with animals to benefit the Heifer International Organization.

Starting Sunday March 13th and each day during lent, the children will follow a calendar of activities which will suggest a certain amount of money to be placed into a box.  When they have enough money to buy a particular animal the animal will be placed in the ark.

Example of one of the activities: Monday March 14th – Where’s the honey jar?  Add 25 cents for every jar of  honey in your kitchen.

St. Joseph’s Casino Night

Saturday February 12th; 6:30pm – ??

Come to the “White House” for some pork-belly spending at the Craps, Roulette, Black Jack and Texas Hold ’em tables or spread your wealth… and hear the “U.S. Mint” spew it’s change from the new slot machines added this year!

Celebrate your freedom at the “Inaugural Ball” for your dining and socializing pleasure. Please stay for the diplomatic “Democratic” auction, followed by the radical “Republican” raffles.

The evening will be debated among constituents, like yourself, who arrive in true American fashion(red, white and blue)and earn and additional $5,000 “”casino cash”!

Rosebud Reservation, South Dakota

Saturday, June 18 and return Saturday, June 25, 2011

  • Cost:  $500—includes fee, food, lodging, supplies, YouthWorks activities and transportation.
  • Deposit of $75 due upon registration
  • Open to all those who have completed 8th grade by the summer of 2011
  • There are only 20 spaces available, so register early.

Religious Ed Christmas Program – Dec 22

The Religious Education program will be presenting two skits: “The Birth of Jesus” and “The Arrival of the Wise Guys” on Wednesday, December 22nd.  The program will begin at 6:30pm in the Parish Center.

There will be a musical intermission and snacks to follow.

No cost and everyone is welcome.
